I had a coupon for some Michelins, so I went ahead and swapped out the OEM tires, even though they don't need replacing yet. Bridgestone Turanza ER33 225/40R18. Last time I had the car at the dealer, the tire tread was at 8/32 (according to tirerack.com, new Turanza's start at 9/32).
In the interest of full disclosure, there is a little superficial damage to the right tire from road rash. It's purely cosmetic in the outer rubber and it's not noticeable unless you're looking for it. No bubbling or damage to the sidewall. I've had it checked out by a tire shop and can provide documentation that the tire is fine.
Both tires for $125. I'm in the 562 area.
