Mechanic being truthfull? 2012 IS350 RWD
Hello all, I recently ran over some POS's rake that was left so graciously on the road two nights ago, and my car spun out and slammed into the left curb twice hard enough to cause a lump on the side of my head. Other than some major curb rash I assumed my car was ok, but started to notice at around 60+mph the car starts to vibrate in the wheel, and in the seat of the car. It also now drifts to the left slightly. I think I can hear a very quiet high pitched grinding sound that does not change no matter how fast I drive, or if I turn the wheel when driving, and more recently it seems to modulate like a squeaky wagon wheel when driving at low enough speeds to hear it. Took it to Christian Brothers and was told that my front and rear drivers side bearing hub assemblies would need replacing and an alignment is needed, totaling 1700$. I am not the most mechanically inclined individual but have access to a friendly neighbor with jack stands and some mechanical knowledge. Is this a repair I can do cheaper after watching a couple of videos, or should I just bite the bullet and go through with the repair? Ill include some photos of the tires so you can get a feel for the impact speed if that helps at all.

If you're comfortable jacking up the car and disassembling the front a fair bit you can replace this yourself

I would not be surprised if the front wheel bearing is damaged given the wheel damage. Rear bearing I don't see why that would be bad. There may be other suspension damage as well, depending on what exactly you may need an alignment. $1700 seems like a high price to me how much of that is parts?

I was told 300-400$ per wheel bearing hub assembly, and 100$ for realignment, are there any tutorials for how to do this? Also the second picture is of the rear wheel.

I'm sure there are many on Youtube. Most any that show a Toyota/Lexus with the bolt on style hub will give you the general idea.
