question about continental tires
i have a 2003 es300 that i just bought 18 inch rims for. they are 18 x 7.5 the tires i am getting are contenental SportContact 225/45/18 anyone have any experience with these tires??? as i live in florida so the snow traction really doesnt matter it is just the wet/rain traction that i am concerned about. and also anyone know if i am going to have a rubbing problem in the front or the rear. and also anyone experience a drastic change in the ride of their es when you added 18's

Mine is a 2002 ES, so it is pretty much similar to the 2004 in the wheel department.
I put on a set of 18x8 Enkeis last June shod with 235/40/18's. The only rubbing I got was when I had at least one adult in the back seat and I hit a big bump. Not a pothole type bump but the type that sets the whole car in an up and down motion. The more weight in the back the more apt it was to rub. As far as I could tell, it was the outside of the wheel rubbing on the inside of the fender. You may escape this by the less 1/2 inch of the 7.5s and the 225s instead of nt 235s.
When I was by myself in the car, it never rubbed. Most remarkably though, you will notice a difference in the ride. Bumps and road surface will be more apparent. Road vibrations will be more pronounced as there is less rubber in the tire to absorb and hide the vibrations. I don't know about the Conti's but the Toyos that I got did increase the road noise level, but it was not that much (volume control on stereo helped that).
On a positive note, cornering was/is a little less floaty boaty.
It is winter in NE now, so I'm back on the stock 16s. Wicked quite and smooth.
Good luck and enjoy.
