I replied to your other thread.

My question to all, and maybe a moderator, is how significant a loss in luxury ride do I lose going to 17?

I was wondering the same thing. I am thinking about getting a pair of those 17s on ebay but I realy don;t want to compromise my cushioned ride.

I can only comment on the ride with the 17's I had on the car (simply because it never had 16's). The ride is very luxurious (considering the fact that I have all the suspension modifications - see my sig). Very comfortable and NOT harsh in any sense of the word . This feedback is based on the L-tuned springs/shocks combo and 17 inch chromes.

I recently replaced the OEM 16s on my SC with OEM 17s from a GS400. I think the ride is actually improved. It is slightly stiffer, or not so mushy, and I have much better road feel. The only negative is slightly more tramlining but I think this is a tire issue (BFG G-force 225s on the 16s and Bridgestone 030 Potenza 235s on the 17s) or maybe only an SC issue.

anyone have opinions on a narrower IS300 chrome wheel for the GS, 17x 7? Will it fit properly, spacing, etc?

I lose a half inch on the width, (judging that stock OEM 17s are 7.5?) but they are still OEM, so any issue, cosmetic or performance? I also wanted the softest ride possible on 17, so was thinking 245/45/17.

The OEM 17" wheel for the GS is definitely 8" wide, not 7.5. I think you're right that the IS wheels are 7". There are those who say that 245s are too wide for 7" wheels and that the IS wheels are too narrow for the GS ("they'll look like bicycle wheels" I've heard but, as I said above, there are pictures here somewhere of an SC on IS wheels and I think it looks fine). You should find out from Brandon if he has a 245x45x17 tire that fits on a 7" wheel.

Didn't he already respond to your other thread?

I've heard good things about ngobros but those wheels look like knock-offs to me. I know they say genuine but the spoke channels don't look right.

Here's a lnk to a cheaper set FS by a CL member:

Oh, I see he's new. Maybe if you ask you can get some older CL member to vouch for him or go look at the wheels for you. Also you might post asking about ngobros wheels.

Watch out for that eBay link. The mods will delete it. Just include the item#.
