Well I'm glad Henry got back to ya Ed. I'm not up on my posts with all the meet stuff, so I'm just catching up now. My inner lip is ground all the way to the head of the phillips screws holding the black trim.
With my rim offset and the 285s, there is no rubbing whatsoever. You'll have a lil over 1/8 inch clearance.
Note I have now gone to 275 since the damage on the one tire from the "bullet hole" incident. Seems that 285 is not readily available from Michelin anymore.
The tire looks a bit small now for the rim. The 285 on a 10" width rim looks much better IMO.

If your shopping for wheels for a 2nd gen GS and intend to run 19x10" w/285mm tire, go with an offset larger than +45 and you should have no rubbing and no fender mod will be necessary. Trust me, it will still look aggresive enough.....
If you already have 19x10" wheels that are between +40-+44, the fender has about 3-4mm's between its edge and the bolt head that holds the fender lining.(as mentioned above by RMMGS) It is very easy to shave that small portion w/out sacrificing the integrity or asthetics of the fender lip......
This fitment option has been known on this board for over two years, but I still havent seen CL members going with 10" +45-+50 w/285mm tire. After I ordered the 19x10" +41 Gettins' and finally had them installed, I realized I could easily have started with the larger offset and avoided any fender mods.....

Yea that was what I was thinking about a 4 wheel kit. I know that normally the offset isnt a factor but I was thinking with this application it might me.
Thanks.
