When Rom started talking about having a 32 offset yadda yadda, he was referring to the fact that with HRE wheels, you are allowed to CHOOSE what offset you want to run. Same with iForged, Zauber, Work, and many other higher end wheels.
This allows you to specify exactly how far you want your wheels to stick out/in. With wheels such as the ones you posted, they are only made in about 3offsets usually something like 40, 20, 0. So think of it like designer suits, if you get a tailor made suit, you can specify exactly how long the sleeves should be, the way the trousers fall, etc etc. But if you buy off the rack, you are stuck with the sizes that are there.
the guy probably doesnt know much about wheels, and is just reading out of a catalog, where it says
34offset- FWD
20offset- RWD
5 offset- SUV
So he is just reading what he sees. As we all said, if the rims really are 34mm offset, you can run a 245 tire and be just fine.
