Default Offset Question

I am looking at buying a set of OZ wheels from TireRack.com for my 2003 is300. Here are the specs:

OZ Superturismo GT
17 X 7.5
Offset: 50mm
Bolt Pattern: 5-114

What I am wondering is the offset of the wheels is 50mm, will this cause a problem? What is factory? What exactly does offset mean? Does it mean how much the wheel sticks out from the body? Because I don’t wants the rims to be like a old school low rider hanging out the side. Also since TireRack is sponsor do we get any discounts? Thanks guys!

read my guide on the sticky at the top of this forum, it has the link to explanation of offset.

and the offset is no problem. the stock ones are 17x7 +50. the 7.5 +50 is 6mm more outward, that will fit no problem.

oh and btw, while 7.5 +50 will fit, personally i think it's too conservative anyway. could be more aggressive

What do you mean conservative? You think I should go with 18"? I want to keep my factory tires. Also I am fairly sure factory is 17X7.5 as well, at least I think mine are.

17 x 7.0-in five-spoke alloy wheels with 215/45ZR17 summer tires

from http://www.lexus.com/models/is/5spee...fications.html

and by conservative i am saying the wheel could have stick out towards the fender more to look more aggressive. once you read my whole guide you get more ideas about what i am talking

and btw, putting the stock 215 on new 17x7.5? i think it's a waste. the tires are so narrow, and the traction of the stock tires is pretty weak
