It seems to me that most of the people have either the spoke style wheels or the mesh style wheels. Does anybody have any dish style wheels and have any picture of them? GS being a such big car (side profile) I would imagine it would look pretty nice with a dish style wheel like some the big Mercede.

The wheels that I am thinking of are more like the OZ, Lorinser, Carlsson. But then again, I guess all wheel manufacturers make some kind of dish style wheels.

Do you guys think a 18" dish style (silver color) would look good on a GS? such as (Work Euroline Design S2, or Volk VR-X Spread)

AutoCouture has a wheel called the Supreme which is a great looking wheel. They make it for both Japanese and German bolt patterns (hence the Mercedes Logo in the picture)

If you don't mind 18" wheels, Andrew Racing has a nice looking wheel also.

The problem with MOST dish wheels is that they're too Mercedes Benz looking most of the time. I don't know about you, but I have NO DESIRE to make my Lexus look like a Mercedes (if I did, I would have just bought a Mercedes).

Manaray,

I saw a picture of a black GS400 with that exact wheels (AutoCouture, Supreme). I believe the web site is called www.lexusfans.com. It is under the Gallery/GS, first page, 2nd row, 4th pic from the left. When I first saw that picture, I fell in love with that wheel. It looked mean!

However, I believe the wheel setup on that car is bigger than 18" setup. Maybe that's why it looked so awesome. What size do you think that wheel is from your experience?

I am only afraid that 18" would be too small to have the dish style wheels......

gs4will,

I think you are right. I think they do only come in 19" and up. I don't think I want to even try to mess around with 19" wheels. Too many damn pot holes around town.......

Thanks

Kajukenbo - Those look like 19's to me...

Just a note, if you have too many potholes, you're chances of damaging 18" rims is just as good as 19" rims. It all depends on the sidewall of your tire. If you get a nice fat sidewall, then your chances of screwing up your rims goes down...

As for 18" looking too small. I personally think 18's, regardless of style, will look too small. I've seen 18's on various "mid size" cars like the Accord, Maxima, etc. and they don't look as good as the same car with 19's. Now you take the GS, it's a bigger car, so 18's will look that much smaller...I have yet to see a GS with 18's that "looked right".

GlobeCLK - Do you like the Volk SE37W's and the Genome Drilled? I can't decide...I think I'd have to see it on the car to see if I like it. At least it's a nice alternative to the MAE or MAE-like rims out there.

I think dish wheels are okay. I don't like MAE at all, and wheels like Lorinser belongs on Mercedes not Lexus. As for the Volks, SE37W is unique and for this kind of design it looks much better than MAE. Genome Drilled is new, but I still think SE37W does look better than the Drilled. (Or LE37W)
