Experts! How do wider tires affect ride/performance?
LS430 has 225 width tires on 7.5" wheels and with the standard suspension there is a lot of lateral load put on these tires. Every competing model in this class has wider, up to 255, tires.
Assuming I maintain the same sidewall height, how would the ride and handling change if I put 245 width tires on 8/8.5 inch wheels? Would a different offset be necessary?

There are a few things you can do to improve the dynamic performance of your LS430. If you increase your width on the tire/wheel, yes different offsets will be required.
The benefits of the wider package would be improved handling, and turn-in response. The tradeoff is increased tramlining (on really rough pavement, the wheel sort of wants to follow the bad grooves-nothing too major)
I would also suggest a increase to 18" wheels.

i agree, going with 18, wider wheels, and put on 245 and it will help handling tremendously. the ride woudl be a bit rougher coz' of lower sidewall and also wider tires, however the ls430 is a nice car and i don't thikn it will be a problem, considering that 18s are already an option from factory

Thanks for the responses.
I won't go with the 18" wheels because of the decrease in ride quality. I'm trying to get the best of both worlds, which by nature can't happen.
My only complaint about the LS430 is it tips a little too much(too much body roll) in corners. Especially long sweepers, but also quick right/left turns. That's the only problem I'm trying to solve.
