I recently upgraded to Michelin Pilots, from my stock Bridgestones, I've also tried the Bridgestone SO-2's , and found them a better choice than the stock bridgestones. The Pilots are amazing, but you have to warm up the tire before it performs.

Re: Michelin Pilot sp
Did you get the Pilot Sports or Pilot XGT Z4? How much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking. I have the XGT Z4's and was thinking about upgrading to the Sports when the time comes.

Michelin Pilot SP
I got them at cost, beacause i'm a Michelin distributor. I also increased the footprint and wheel diameter. I upgraded to Volk AV-3 (245/35/zr19) front and 275/30/zr19)rear, much improved handling, and road feel. At the same time i installed front(rod millen tower strut) and rear (cusco) tower strut. The rear one really made a difference in the amount of yah in the rear. I've got Tein HA coil-overs coming, so the car should handle like it's on rails--- I should get a real feel for the tires with the suspension lowered and stifened.

I've had the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, good wear, quiet for this type of tire, and lots of traction, some people say the turn in is a bit soft but it feels great to me. In the wet is good also.
I have had mine for about 3000 miles and still riding great. I have only 17" wheels also.
Give them a try.

I have a 98 GS400 with the factory 17" chrome wheels. I was looking for a quiet ride. Not overly concerned with high speed manuvering or traction in wet or snow conditions because I'm in central California. I tried a set of Fuzions made by Bridgestones and could not be happier. They are quiet, look good, and after 4000 miles there is no noticeable wear. The Tire Rack has this tire available for less than $100.00. Go onto their website and check out the user reviews. You'll be pleasantly surprised with the feedback on this tire. It sure gave me the quiet ride I was looking for in a 17" tire and I can't see where I've given up any of the handling characteristics of the more expensive Dunlops they replaced.
