Since you wanna go for the audacious, JDM/VIP look, have you thought about running a streched tire setup?
If you go20x8.5 and 20x10 you could run something like a 235/35-20 fr and a 255/35-20 rear (Nitto makes these sizes in the 555).
Honestly, in the past I would think that a 10" wheel on a 255 tire would look hideous, but that is exactly what Johnee78 has, and it is quite a aggressive look. This would be a good setup for you, because you could run a normal/low disk up front and get the nice big fr/rr lip look you want. Plus it would help with being able to drop really low.
I forget what extreme stretch JunctionGS is running, but off the top of my head, its something to the effect of a 9" on a 215 and a 10" on a 235 or something crazy like that.
Johnee's strech (remember the 1st Gen GS has a much bigger wheelwell than the 2nd Gen, so it will be less noticeable on a 2nd Gen)

Antbo- what type of wheels do you want? If you go iForged, you can get 2pc and really try to get crazy with the lip sizes (if you choose to stretch the tires) maybe high 30s in the rear, and mid 30s in the front.
Send me email or call me, and we can figure some things out (all info in sig)

You can dump the GS on 20s with a pretty aggressive drop on 20s with the correct modifications.
Mine has H&R coilovers +
20x9 +35 255/35-20
20x10.5 +41 285/30-20 (was 20x10 +35 until recently- added 1/2" more width to the inside of the rim)
You cannot stick a finger between the tire and the fender arch. I drive the car like this every day.

You are going to have to shave probably most or all of the fender lip. I think Bob actually shaved it all. I believe he went even more drastic now but rolling won't be enough for you in the rear.

Personally, I don't like this look. The wheelwell-wheel visual just looks off to me. I like a setup more like Bob's where you find a good balance between fender gap and fender flush.
