Default How wide on an 18X9 wheel?

I'm considering wheels that are 18X9 for the rear. How wide of a tire can I go with this wheel? Will a 275 fit, or will it be too wide and pinched a bit? Is 265 the better option? Just wondering...thanks!!

You can probably fit 275s on there. Still, I think 255s are ideal for 9s but 265s would be fine too. I have not looked into too many 255s so I am not sure on availabilty but I know 265/35s are pretty common.

What are you putting up front? 18x8?

Yes...18x8F and 18x9R So do I use 245/40 for front and 265/35 for rear? Is this the best for my given rim widths? Thanks again...]

The OEM 17s run 235/45 which produces a diameter of 25.3.

If you are going with those rim sizes, then the balanced tire setup would be 235/40/18 (OD =25.4) and 265/35/8 (OD = 25.3). 245/40 has OD = 25.7.

In fact, for the L-Tuned OZ Salinas, the tires that come with the rims are 235/40 and 265/35. If you can go 9.5 in the rear, then the 245/275 tire combo would be good. Better yet, go 8.5/9.5 and you can comfortably run the 245/275 combo.

I'm running 8.5 and 9.5 on 18" rims with the 245/275 combo. Look's good, rides good and don't have to worry as much about bending rims

RR,

I'll do some digging tomorrow on what I ran on my old Piaa Rozza Altras which were 18x9 in the rear (and 18x8 front). I think it was 275s... Had no issues whatsoever and a nice wide footprint.

Ping me if I don't come back to this thread. Worst case we PM TomTNC who has them on his GS now and he can look at the tire setup for us.

Edit
R: 275/35/18
F: 245/40/18
