Just curious what people ended up with. I got the Bridgestone's 040's, but will buy Michelin Sport Pilots, once these tires get...exercised
to the point of replacement...

MY IS CAME WITH KUMHO'S BUT MY WIFE'S IS CAME WITH DUNLOP SP9000'S I HAVE ALSO SEEN THE BRIDGESTONES BUT ALL THESE WERE ON THE 17'S. THE 16'S CAME WITH MICHELINS. I CHANGED MINE TO THE SP8000'S. MAKE SURE YOU RESEARCH YOUR TIRES BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO SEE WHAT KIND OF HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS AND STREET NOISE YOU SHOULD EXPECT. ALSO YOU NEED TO CONSIDER WHAT KIND OF WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE COMMON TO YOUR AREA. I LIVE IN TEXAS WHERE IT IS HOT MOST OF THE TIME AND WE HAVENT HAD SNOW FOR 16 YEARS SO IT MADE SENSE FOR ME TO GO WITH A SUMMER TIRE. HOPE THIS HELPS. LET US KNOW WHAT YOU DECIDE.

I got the Bridgestone Potenza 040's. I've begun researching replacements when these wear out.
Anybody have these? Very good prices
Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's $95 215-45-17
280 treadwear AA traction and A temp rating
NANKANG NS-1 $95 215-45-17
340 treadwear A traction and A temp rating
Found first at tirerack.com, second at tires.com

I've heard some good things about Toyos, but don't dismiss the Michelins.

The car I chose had Bridgestone Potenza's (I think RE040) on them but I had the dealer replace them with the Dunlop SP9000. The tread design on the Dunlop looked more agressive
Lucky me I looked up the review in the Tirerack.com and it had good reviews. It may be cheaper than the RE040 (in tirerack.com) but the handling after 2500 miles on them are great. It has great dry road handling but I have not encountered wet roads yet on these. We'll see.

Those of you with Dunlop Sport 9000's....I had these tires living in Seattle on my last car, and they are so sweeett in the rain ! I could blast by at 70+ in a down pour, and the wet traction was awesome ! Although I had them on a front drive car Acura Legend here's a link to it http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?...461&p=35786999
anyway, be stoked if you have the SP's...the great ! maybe a little stiff, but I used to thrash on these tires all the time !

I completely agree with lexusnexus, I got the SP9000 on mine when I got it about a month ago and they are SWEEEET in rain and dry. I live in the Seattle area also. These things just GRAB.
I had Toyo Proxes FZ-4's on my old car and they SUCKED in the rain, in the dry they were just ok.
I'm sticking with the Dunlops when it comes time to replace them. Couldn't be happier with them.

I had the Toyo FZ-4's on my car for a day. I wasnt that impressed with them. My old Nitto 555 were way better than those. I was sliddin everywhere.
The place where I bought them messed up and put the fz4 on instead of my t1-s. They had to order the T1-s so I got to thrash a set of FZ-4's
When I got the T1-S's on there was a huge difference! Best street tire ive ever used! They are not scary in the rain like the Nitto 555 was too

I feel I need to rebut some of the allegations that the FZ-4 is a bad tire.
I concede that the FZ does not have the all-out tenacious grip that the T1-S or Pole Positions have.
However, as a tire for my wife's car which is more daily commuter than track/race car, it blends decent wet and dry grip w/excellent tread life. The tire is predictable in most conditions and I doubt my wife will ever drive past the capabilities of the FZ tires.
Now if the IS was my car, it would definitely be the T1-S.

Since we're on the tire topic, I was just wondering if anyone have experiences with Bridgestone Potenza RE730?? I'm thinking about replace those tire with my Dunlop in the future. It's not that I don't like Dunlop, BUT just want to try new good stuff !!!! Thanks
