Default Paint or Powercoat?

I'm about to redo my rims with a polished lip with a gunmetal finish for the face. I have done this before, but with powercoating. I notice now a lot of companies are painting the face of the rim. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Any difference in quality, durability, finish? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

painting is usually cheaper and faster. powdercosting takes longer and usually cost more, but it's more durable
