Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the ride quality of 20s when combined with Tein CS on a GS4. I have read virtually every post on the comparison of 18s, 19s, and 20s and pretty good reviews from Rom, Rich and a few others, yet Brandon also notes that for "client" comfort, 19s are the way to go. I have also noticed that some of the most premier luxury sport sedans around come with the equivalent of our 19" fat setup - including the Mercedes AMG V-12 sedan and BMW. I have already bought the Teins and am down to the wire on the iForged (Technik)GB. Your input is appreciated.

Unless you go 19s fat, the ride quality on the 19s and 20s will be pretty much the same. The two "normal" setups ride on the same sidewall height. Because of the same reason (sidewall height), the 19s fat will ride better.

I am on 20s (Techniks ) with Tein CS and the ride is fine. It is definitely not stock and is different than when I had 18s (which has the same sidewall as 19s fat). I also have all the upper and lower bracing so my car is a little stiffer than someone on CS only. Honestly, I have contemplated going back to 19s fat but I just can't get over going down to 19s. I may still do it someday, who knows? I usually only feel this way after I drive my Mom's ES. For the soft ride quality (and not handling), the OEM setup is pretty smooth.

It all comes down to your priorities. I don't want to scare you too much. The Tein CS is probably one of the best choices to retain the close-to-OEM ride. Then, it is just what sidewall you want to have and/or what size rims you want to floss.

If ride quality is really important to you. I would go with 19's w/ fat setup.

I got 20's with the tein CS. Thoughts of going 19's w/ fat setup comes to mind sometimes.
But the 20's fills up the space better.

Thanks Neo. If I go 19s I was planning on the fat setup. I had 255 35 18s on my 300ZX TT and ride quality was not bad (similar sidewall height as 20s) yet with my GS I've not been overly pleased with stock suspension and stock 17" chrome wheel and tire combo. My biggest issue is tire noise and I have Eagle F1 GS D3s which are supposed to be pretty quiet. Bought them used, however, and have noted the posts about increased noise as they wear.

I think you will probably be happier with a GS with 19s fat setup. I think you will have the look you want and ride quality that will be pretty close to stock. I actually enjoy the ride with 20s and CS. I know it isnt stock but it is pretty close. You live in Tampa right? How are the roads you usually travel? If you dont have nice smooth roads then I would stick with 19s

tire issue is totally different, i dont' think you should throw that into the equation. if you get some good tires, even at 20s they dont make much noise at all..

about the 20s and tein cs, i am sure you read my review already so it's cool. i think neo said it all, if you want comfort, 19 fat setup is the way to go. i went from 19 normal to 20s and i don't feel any difference in the ride at all seriously

and my parents are here and they are not complaning at all
