what is the proper 20" wheel/tire size for gs400?

Yes both front and rear. I think some here go even into the mid 40s. I am not sure if the added psi is completely warranted but with the smaller sidewalls and expensive rims, a little added "protection" gives more peace of mind. It does make the ride little more harsh though.
As for tires, look at the Toyo T1-S and the Nitto 555. These will not perform as well as the Michenin PS family but they seem to last longer.

I actually prefer the 245/285 combo to get that little more sidewall. What's a little couple more tenths since the OD is already out of spec.

mileage is also dependent on the tires. so3 and such they wear faster. my perelli it's been over 10k miles but i dont' even see any uneven wear

egh... the tire shop i asked said 32-34psi. that's not even close to 39-40psi+...
i know this is a topic that has been beaten to death but... what causes wear on the inside of a tire of a lowered car? is it the negative camber, or toe?

sorry for dragging this back from the dead but... i was on tirerack.com and they list the 20x9 wheel size as 255/30/20, whereas http://www.lexusgonewild.com/article...lFitment.shtml says 245 or 255/35/20... which is correct?

BUT
Most run 35 because
1. For a long time there was not much selection for 30 series tires to fit out car. There is a little more now but still not great. Less choices also equals premium cost for the ones that are available.
2. The sidewalls with 30 series will be very thin. Ride quality would suck even worse. Wheel damage would have higher chances since there is even less rubber protection. The sidewalls are stiffer but there is just less of it.
