One of my commandments for the Lex is staggered wheels. I've wasted money on same size rims only to be drawn to the staggered setup, sooooo sexy!

non staggared! Run the fronts as wide as the rears, get rid of understeer.

But since you said yourself that the car isn't that fast I assume that your not going to be really racing it. So, I don't think worrying about understeer should be a concern or problem.

I'd take understeer over oversteer any day

but if you afre concerned put an lsd in and you will never understeer again, at least thats what happened with my car.

Bumping an older thread so I don't get yelled at for starting my own...

My Dad and our neighbor (who is a mechanic, and his word is like a commandment from God to my Dad) both reccomend I stick with a non-staggered combo. Their reasoning is that the tires can't be rotated, and that the front will wear down in half the time of the rears.

Is the wearing issue true? Obviously they can't be rotated, but I hadn't heard about the wearing.

I had considered running TT wheels because of price (where can I get OEM quality wheels for >$600 besides TTs?), looks, and the aggressive fitment (conservative but still looks great from the rear).

my experience is that the drive wheels wear faster. This means if you have an SC400 then the rear tires will wear out faster than the fronts. So the wear issue is true and rotating may get you a bit more mileage on a set of tires.

How much can I expect a normal, daily drive type tire (no need for super sticky performers) on staggered sizing to last? Compared to a normal setup?

I had a stock set-up for a couple of years, then went with the Supra TT set-up for a few months, and now I'm running staggered 19's (8.5f & 9.5r). I personally NEVER rotated tires on my stock set-up, I just maintained a good alignment and kept an eye on my tires. When they started to wear down I just replaced them, it wasn't too pricey. As long as you don't have your car slammed to the ground (causing camber issues) and you maintain a decent alignment you should be fine, just make sure you're in a position financially to replace a 19" tire when/if the time comes

My advice would be to go with the TT set-up first so you have a good idea about how long you can drive before you need to replace tires, everyone's driving style is different so I can't say how long tires will last you.

...and 17" tires are much cheaper than 19's
