Sorry to bump a blast from the past, but I was wondering … would hub centric rings be requiredif one was to replace OEM Lexus rims with OEM Lexus rims from a different model.

i.e. 01 IS300 17x7’s on a 94 Sc300 (stock 15x7”s) ?

No, for most Lexus Models the hubs are all the same. The bigger Suv's might have a larger hub.

In your case IS wheels should bolt right up to you SC hubs without any problems.

Not only do you need them they have to fit snugly inside the wheel bore and they need to be flush with the surface of the wheel to make contact with the hub....to keep it from moving around.

I bought an aftermarket rims... I thought it would be ok without the hub rings.
Result after driving around my block:

wheels wobbled, clanking sound. All the bolts were loosened.

basically my hub bore measured: 57mm and the rim measured at 70mm so I figure too much force was put on the bolts.

Question about the center hub adapters. I just replaced my pieplate rims and runflat tires with new rims and tires that came with the hub adapter rings. I am keeping one of my old rims and tires in the trunk as a spare.

If I get a flat and have to put my old rim and tire on do I have to take off that hub adapter ring and is it easy to take off if I am stuck on the side of the rode with a flat tire?

Thanks for any reponse, Cliff.

Some people are going to think this is a stupid question but I won't say that and I'll answer the question to keep someone else from a harsh reply.

If you didn't need hub rings with the stock wheels you wouldn't need them if you put one of the wheels back on. It wouldn't fit over the hub ring anyway.

Okay, I was a little sarcastic but I couldn't help myself. Sorry.

Have you posted pics? I wanna see the ride.

Ya thanks for being nice about it. I kinda thought after about the question and was like "dope" LOL. My question should have been those hub rings, are they easy to take off, sitting at the side of the road with a flat? Is the rings something that comes off easily or are tools needed to take them off?

Here is a pic.

Yeah, they come right off. No tools needed unless they have coroded into the metal then a screww driver or something thin can be used to pry it loose. Usually, they come right off with no issue.

As for the car....I hope you accept criticism well and I'll be nice.
Those wheels are too small but can look better if you lower the car. Tire shine will help too. The smallest I would do is 19.

Thanks for the answer to my question.
Ya I know about the size that is just a winter set up, stock size rims and tires(all season). I just needed to get those pie plates and run flats off before winter hit. I just got the car a couple months ago and when spring rolls around I will start looking for a different set up.

if they rings don't come off, a common practice is to kick or hammer on the back of the rotor lightly, to jiggle off the ring

You can check the hub centric rings store for centric rings. I have ordered spigot rings for my BMW. They ship worldwide for free.

Sorry my bad English!

I'm running 19" MRR GT1 wheels on my IS without rings, very smooth, no problems since May 2009.
