Default taking apart 3 piece wheel Help

i have the lowenhart LR5 im trying to take it apart so i can have the lip rechromed. I already removed all teh riviet bolts. anyone know how to remove the face off the wheel off the rim?

nvm figured it out. Got me a rubber mallet

I know its 3 piece, where would the other piece be?

the outter and inner wheel (the cylinders). seems like they are welded together

the guy at the chrome place said it wasnt a true 3 piece. Said the lips are welded together.

I hope you don't call that hammer pictured a rubber mallet
Yeah, the outer and inner barrels are the other 2 pieces...
Usually there's a nice thick layer of silicon that lines the 2 pieces. Do you have the torque settings for when you put it back together? I've always wondered if there is a certain amount of pressure needed or just hand tight would do the job?

thats what I was scared of when I was thinking of taking my wheels apart

yeah, and actually for some reason a lot of 3 piece wheels (especially jdm ones) the barrels they are welded together

haha na the rubber mallet isnt in the picture.


i have no idea what the torque setting is.

Anyone know? What are teh steps in putting it back together? I heard you gotta torque it a certin way.

oh man you didn't check the tq before you took them off??? that's not good..... all wheels they have different tq settings, you will have to find out about your wheels now

this is what I was afraid off ...hope it works out for you ....you might want to call a wheel repair shop and see if they can point you in the right direction ..Good luck

i have also heard that when you take a multi-piece wheel apart, the studs should be replaced too. Aparently the stress from tightening and untightening could make the studs weak.

well teh place that doing the rechroming of the lip wanted 100$ to take apart and put back together. Maybe they can tell me about torque settings.

a lot of the time, yes. some bolts they aren't really designed to be taken off and put back on

looks like im screwd casue those bolts are prob real hard to find.
