I had bridgestone RE92s on my car when i first got it, man those were terrible. Lotta cars come with michelin MMVX4 energy or whatever and those are real bad too.

Bad thing is most people arent even educated in selecting a good tire and always go "just give me what I had before" OEMS always cost a lot more than much better performing ones because most people dont know anything about tires

I went with the Conti's. Much cheaper, similar performance ratings in most categories, and better in the snow. But if I didn't often travel to New England for skiing and to see family, I may have gone with the Michelins. I haven't had any problems with tire noise.

I'm leaning towards the Contis. I've extensively read through the reviews of both tires on TireRack.com and I think I'm going to go with the Contis since the performance is pretty much the same as the Michelins, but at pretty much half the price.

I've read in some cases that the Michelin Pilot Sports tend to prematurely wear in the middle of the tire, especially on performance cars like our. On the other hand, I've read the Contis tend to get flat spots when it's really cold, but that the tire "evens out" after a few miles of driving. Seems to me the flat spot problem of the Contis is only temporary.

Will we be at a disadvantage if we abandoned the staggered OEM setup? Tirerack only has the ContiExtremes and the Michelin PS A/S for our cars because they're the only 18" tires that fit the staggered bill.

If i were to go with 225 on all four tires or 255 on all four tires so that I can choose from a greater selection on TireRack, would I be at some kind of disadvantage?

The wider tires in the back help with acceleration since you have more rubber in contact with the pavement. But, having narrower tires all around is better for winter driving, since the narrow tires are more likely to cut through the snow and actually get down to the road surface. I don't know if the wider tires would fit in the front?

Michelin PS2 all the way. They don't do any one thing far better but they do everything well. No other tire can say that. They aren't the quietest (Yoko db2 are), not the absolute best grip (a couple are better), not the absolute best in lateral holding (a couple do that best) but they do all of these well. It's the best all around tire money can buy. I have over 25 years of performance tire experience and I vouch for Michelin.

I'm wearing Michelin Pilot Sport AS. PS2's were not out when I bought these but they will be my next tire. I've used Michelin on and off many years and I keep coming back to them. They are the best.

Ooh, may not be a great idea to let us know your wife controls your mod spending....now we know you're not really hooked. Just teasing you.

I'm almost done with a set of contiextremecontact tires.
They're pretty cheap and quiet. Terrible wet traction though. Despite having a 400 wear rating it goes pretty quick. I just passed my 10K and the tires are almost down.
