my friend just bought a set of rims (front 18x8, rear 18x8.5). he's tryin to get 245/40/18s for the fronts. is 275/40/18 too wide for the rears ?? but 265s gon fit, right ?? any opinions ??
I think 275 is a bit overboard. 275 is the ideal size for a 9.5" width rim. I think 265 is still pushing it too far on a 8.5 rim. 245 is the ideal size for that rim and maybe a 255 will fit. Please chime in if anyone else can confirm or debunk this.

What car is this for? 245 front and 255 rear max. Anything higher can be done, just ill-advised. Why only .5" difference? It seems like it is not even worth the stagger. I'd rather go the same width instead of this.
