Are Used Tires a Good Idea?
I am thinking about getting used tires off of ebay since there are so many and the price seems reasonable. Can anyone tell me if they feel this would be a good or bad idea and why?
I just picked up my car and I am already into it by 1.5K and I havent even started to really do anything to it yet so I just want to borrow some lightly used shoes for about 6 months until I get everything else ready to go.

I guess it really depends on the condition of the tire and the price.
Some times you can get a really good deal on a barely used tires. Check and see which car uses similar tires as the ones you are looking for. Go to auto forum and see if anyone is selling them. I bough some barely used tires and had good luck with them but I did have an incendent where I bought some used tire but found out there were some issues.
Just make sure you look very very carefully.

yup. I'd stick to the newer ones like the dealer take-offs with at least +8/32's of tread left. Be careful about the descriptions of '5/32" of tread so 50% tread life.' 5/32's left usually means you'll have ~2/32's left before you hit the wear bars, which is when you should think about changing the tires especially if it gets wet out.

You never know what you're getting with used rubber... they could be flat-spotted, could be patched (from a flat repair), blistered, etc... I've seen used tires that weren't worth the cost of having them mounted & balanced.
These are for your SC? On a car like this I'd just buck-up for new quality rubber - it's the most important safety item on your car!

Unless you are getting them for a steal I wouldn't buy used on line.
- Think about it.. If they are no good you'll be out the cash.
I you can inspect them.. You might be able to get a good deal..
Many times the used tires come off totalled cars etc?
