Default What determines width of lip?

What determines the width of a lip on a wheel? I am assuming it has to do with the offset?

For example, If a wheel had a +36 offset, the lip would be wider than the same wheel with a +42 offset? Or does the width of a wheel 8.5in or 9.5in play a factor in the width of the lip too?

Someone correct me if im wrong.

offsets and widths go hand in hand with each other, so by just looking at offsets it's meaningless.

and lip size? it depends on spoke design, disc type, and width/offsets

if both wheels were the same size say 18x8.5. one wheel was +35, other +45. AND they both have the same disc type. then yes the one with the lower offset has a bigger lip. on JDM wheel sites, most of them have a chart so u can see the lip size.
