I have just about convinced myself to get some 19" rims. The questions I still have are:

• how wide a rim to get?
• what size tires to get? (no stagger)
• if I add the L-Tuned package will I have to worry about rubbing?

Any other info and input is greatly appreciated. I'm a GS newbie, as well as a wheels newbie.

My 2001GS is the first car I ever owned.

Could i go with 245/40/19 Tires?

What would that mean as far as performance/ride and life of tires? Hows it compare to the 245/35/19?

245/40/19: overall diameter is too tall, possible damage of susupension, limited tyres to choose from. 40 series might have a bit more meat for wear/comfort(really too small to notice). but i would NOT get the wrong size tyre in the first place.

just some tyres w/higher tread wear such as TOTO T1-S, DUNLOP 9000 both are excellent performance tyres

i have 245/40/19s, i go into the city sometimes and i wanted more protection.. also i have the ltuned shocks and springs. no problems with rubbing at ALL!! it does look a LITTLE.. and thats very little.. bigger then i would like..(bigger meaning the profile) but i can live with it since i want more protection.. hope that helps!

if i compare the stock 215/60/16 to some 245/40/19

the difference in radius is only 0.25 inches, difference in diameter is 0.5 inches, and difference in circumfrence is 1.7 inches

Would that much of a difference really effect or "possibly damage" my suspension"?

By choosing 40series it would give an added 0.5 inches of sidewall, above the 245/35/19 tires.

I am a tires/wheel newbie, and I would definatly like to know what everyone here thinks, and thier reasons.

The radius measurement you gave means that the car will ride.25 inches higher than your current set-up, and, the fender well will be filled .25 inches MORE.(Radius is distance from the center of the wheel) It wont effect your suspension at all. But, dont expect the ride to be the same if that is what you are wondering...

In theory will a 40 series tire offer a more comfortable ride than a 35 series tire?

I'd imagine it's barely noticable if at all... but in theory?

are there any other pros/cons to a 40 series vs. 35 series??

Are you talking about a 35/40 series tire with the same width????
If you are, a 40 series will be slightly more forgiving on bumps but should offer the same handling capability.
Now, if for example you are talking about a really wide tire, then a 40% sidewall vs. a 35% sidewall may have a more noticable difference in both ride height and performance...Tiny
