Where would you guys shop for wheels online?
I'm pretty ignorant about wheels, and even fuzzy on what I'm looking for.
I know I like Volks, 5 points, dish(es) I think, at least 18s.
I'm looking for reccomendations for shops that:
- sell quality wheels, not super high end, but no knock offs
- I don't have to worry about getting hosed
- have a great website with good descriptions and pictures
- good customer service that will answer my questions
If they can mount the meats, that would be good too.
I know about tirerack, so looking for others.
TIA

dexter,
most of decent size wheel+tyre shops have ads in the Sport Compact mag. you might try looking into that first. but, among them, few are not very knowledgeable and lack of professional attitude.
i would looking into the volk site first, pick out the wheels that you like and call around. if you need price for reference, let me know, we have tons of shops here in LA that you can order from

Hey Dexter,
Like Will said, check out what wheels you like first, once you have a model, finish, size, then go shop around....
Try the following links for some other wheels...
http://www.dazzmotorsports.com
http://www.gtautosports.com/wheelint.htm
http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/contents/1.htm
As for customer service, most of your questions can probably be answered here... Oh, most of Rays/Volks wheels top out at 18"...but depending on your local street conditions, you may not want to go past 18"...personally, I think 18" on a GS looks too small...but then again, I live in an area where the roads are decent for the most part....
Also, what's your budget...maybe one of us can help you out...

Thanks guys. I feel kinda silly asking before looking in the archives. I found a few others in the same boat as me and went to a few of those links.
Here's what I've decided. In summary:
sporty / clean / 5 spoke / satin or polished finish / not flashy / no chrome
I really like my OEM 17s, just want something a little more refined looking and bigger with a little pizazz. Actually, tirerack had a set of Modas 18x9 I like, and mounted with BridgesSO3s, the total was like $2400, delivered. I don't know squat about quality, so I'd like to hear any opinions.
There were other pages I liked, (the ones mentioned above) and some other wheels, but too many to catalog right now. Basically, I like a lot of the Volks, esp Brents SS7s. I found some HRE wheels that are sweet, but they seem almost too good for my car....I dunno, not ready to drop that much coin....there are so many out there!
I appreciate your help.
Here are the Modas - pretty much OEMs, I know.

www.wheeloptions.com . Lotsa Japanese wheels like Volk and Advan.
It's a shop in El Monte, really close to Longo Lexus. Very cool shop. Quick and good job on all types of installation. I got my brakes done there. The owner Vic can get alot of stuff, even hard to get Japanese rare wheels (like TE37 MAG I suppose). Yah. They can also get some performance parts too.
Go check it out.

Dexter,
if you like the simple, classy and clean look of oem style 5 spokes, there are many wheels to choose from. modas are from one of the best metal foundry in italy, for the price, they are very good in quality. i am not sure about your budget, the S-03s are one of the best tyres in the world at the present time, but also very expensive.
wheels are like shoes to a man, it makes the very first impression on your ride, so choose according to your taste, carefully and wisely. we are here for help, advice, and price check

Thanks again guys. I'll hunt through those pages today.
GS4W: good to hear; that price is actually for 5 wheels with S03 tires mounted and balanced, delivered; I was impressed with the final cost really.

GlobeCLK and Lexus_IS300, thanks for those links.
Those pages are awesome - great detail pics and info - its esp great when the pics are thumbnailed some of us on dial-up (only during the week thank goodness) can easily weedout the noncontenders
I've got some ideas and pics now of what I like, so far....
The leaders in the clubhouse are the Volk Challenge, AV3s (shocker), and the Modas.

Out of all those, I would go with the Kruezers...definitely...there is also a Kruezer Series X that as more spokes (I like this one also)...here's a pict on a RecMotion Altezza (IS)...

Yes, the AVS Model 7...or the Rays/Versus Campionato SS7
I actual like the Rays/Versus a little more cause it dishes...I like that look (like the REAR TTE wheel they have for the GS...very nice...too bad the front looks so booty!)
