Default Why my P-Zero Nero M/S's are so loud?

Hey Brandon,
Maybe you can shine some light on this. I got my 245/45/17 P-Zero Nero M/S tires from Tire Rack and mounted them on my stock 17" on my 01 GS430. First 4k miles they were great performance wise, they were never as quiet as my 215/50/16 ContiExtremeContact on my 2000 Maxima SE or Yoko's Avid H4 225/55/16 on my 98 RL3.5. They were not noisy but you could still hear the tire espacially when you come to a stop. Now I have 10k miles on them and they are extremely noisy, sounds like I am driving on a truck! Very unhappy. I might have had bad alignment since I mounted them and aligned them, because in last 2 days I learned how most shops do not know how to do an alignment and thanks to Lexforlife for shinning light on this and make me learn about it. After I dropped my car with new Tein CS v2, I had the car aligned 4 times and they still did not get it right, alignment is still off, and tires sound even louder now, thats another story, i am taking the car to poerformance shop to get aligned, here is my alignment results:

Front:
Caster: Left: 8.4 Right 8.5
Camber: Left -1.3 Right -1.0
Toe: Left: 0.05 Right: 0.10 Total: 0.15

Rear:
Camber: Left: -1.5 Right: -1.7
Toe: Left: 0.05 Right: 0.15 Total: 0.20
Thrust Angle: 0.0

Would an alignment that is a bit off, make tires loud over time or they would be loud right away if car is not aligned right, and if I will get my car align tomorrow, would the tire noise go away or I need new tires, or alignment and tire noise have nothing in common?!

Hi dlomonosov,
I have share the same situation with you here for a couple months now.
The tire is so loud that it is more like drving a truck.
I have the tire rotation a month ago and went through alignment today.

Your last alignment still off line a lot.
FYI is the comparison of your alignment & the (GS430) Spec:
Front:
Caster: Left: 8.4 Right 8.5 (between 7.1 to 8.1)
Camber: Left -1.3 Right -1.0 (between -0.8 to 0.2)
Toe: Left: 0.05 Right: 0.10 Total: 0.15 ((between -0.03 to 0.18)

Rear:
Camber: Left: -1.5 Right: -1.7 (between -1.3 to -0.3)
Toe: Left: 0.05 Right: 0.15 Total: 0.20 (between -0.03 to 0.17 Total -0.07 to 0.33)
Thrust Angle: 0.0 (N/A)

On my LS they also got loud over time with wear. I'm not sure of the mileage I got out of them before I replaced, need to check.

an alignment that is out of camber a little on the negative side isn't going to hurt anything...

it will actually make the vehicle handle better with very little increased tire wear...

on my sc400, I have almost 2 degrees of neg camber in the back and -1.5 up front - I have no signs of increased or uneven tire wear, on BFGoodrich KDWs which are much more aggressive than the PZero's...

One thing some may mistake for tire noise is a worn wheel bearing, but this is rare (just something you might want to look in to)

Other than that, how are your shocks? That is the most common reason for tires that wear loudly...

Hmm, I recently had the Nero M&S installed on my GS. So far so good, but I'll have to keep an eye on this noise issue.

Hi guys,
I have switch from the worn out Bridgestone S-03 into the Michellin Pilot Sport A/S M+S tire.
All of the noise are gone !
The car drove like a Lexus again !

It's pretty common for high performance summer tires to be somewhat noisy even when they're new. It will get worse with wear. High performance all season tires tend to be a bit quieter. I had a set of the Kumho asx and they were extremely quiet. Felt and sound like I was flying.

My 20" Michelin Pilot SPorts ride just like 17's. Buy Michelin, you won't have the noise problems.
