Default Tires for GS 300

I will be purchasing tires soon are the continentals extreme a good tire for the GS I was wanting the Michelin pilot a/s but they don't make that tire in my size they have a 225/55/16 would that change ride quality and would it have a shorter tread life than the 60 series.

Are you talking about Continental ContiExtremeContact? If you read the review on this tire on tirerack, they are about 50-50 on GS owners liking them. (It seems some of the older reviews are gone)

You could go with the Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S.

If you change from 215/60VR16 to 225/55R16 the ride will get a little bit rougher because you are going from a 26 to 25.8 inch diameter. This will also change your speedometer. If you are willing to accept switching to that size you should consider going 245/60R16 which are 25.7" diameter. This will get you a wider stance.

I put 245/60R16 Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position on my 1998 GS400. I like them a lot. Just waiting for winter to see if I love them. I purchased them before there was even 1 tire survey on Tirerack, now they are #1 in their category.

Tirewear will not change between tire sizes.

225/60-16 is slightly wider, very slightly taller, fits fine, and michelin builds the a/s in that size too...
