Need 225/60/16's for quiet, soft and smooth ride
I need to purchase a new set of tires 225/60/16's for my 96 LS400.
My interests are in a quiet, soft and smooth plushy ride. I guess a touring tire is what I am looking for, but of course I wouldn't mind some performance as well.
I am also on a limited budget (according to my wife), so I would like to get the best tire for the money.
Any recommendations are welcomed and appreciated!

Pole Position
The Exalto A/S is supposed to be good, but might be a bit more performance oriented than you are looking for. I have a set of 16s that I run for the winter on my GS400, and the Exalto A/S will be the next tire I buy for that car.
For an LS400 in 225/60/16, I'd check out the the Bridgestone Turanza LS-H or LS-V, and the Michelin Energy Plus MXV4.

I'm gonna check to see what Kumhos I have on my 99 LS400....the ones i have I do NOT recommend; it came with them when I got the car, but the ride/road noise is pretty crappy.

I was talking to one the tire guys about Kumho and he said that Kumho is a good tire, but they have made some crappy ones which easily tarnished the name.
I had a set that came on my Corvette and actually liked them, but I never had another tire on there to compare so I don't really know. No road noise at all, and cornering was great. But that's a whole nother type of tire.

The kuhmos on my lex are Kuhmo Ecsta Supra....they are at about 40% treadwear, but like I said the road noise/feeling is not what it should be. I'll be going with some Bridgestone Turanzas most likely when I replace.

Went ahead with the Bridgestone Turanzas LS-H's. Great ride, I wouldn't call it the quietest tire but I am pleased. A little expensive, but I guess you gotta pay for the good stuff.
