Jeff, one other thing. The primary reason I was considering the Michelin Exalto A/S over the LS-V is because Costco doesn't sell Bridgestone anymore and I was quoted $525 installed out-the-door (including lifetime balance and rotation) for the Exaltos in 225/55/16. This was during the Costco fall tire sale, but I'm sure there will be another sale in the next few months. I think the LS-Vs from TireRack are at least that much, if not more, and that doesn't include installation.

Have any of you looked at the Yokhama YK520? I was told it was the replacement for the Avid V4S which I have had on another car and thought it was a pretty good tire for the money. I can get these for $184 less than the RE960's and for $399 cheaper than the LS-Z. At this much less cost and a treadwear warranty of 60,000 miles it is hard to not consider this tire.

Sure hope they are better than the V4S, I had them for a month, they are horrible in the snow.

I got the LS-Z's and man is it a nice tire. It is super quiet. Thinking back to when I got my LS-V's, it's tough to say if this tire is any better than that tire. I know my LS-V's were quiet but this tire does seem to be somewhat quieter. Tough to tell without going to put a set of new LS-V's on them to compare. They are of course quieter than my 50000 mile LS-V's.

Thanks for everyone's input. I can safely suggest the LS-V's and LS-Z's to anyone wanting a good quiet tire that should last beyond 40,000 miles with proper care.

Wow, you work fast. Congrats on the new tires. Check back in a few months after you've driven on them for a while to let us know how they're doing.

Default Checking back in

It's been over 2 years, over 30K on the tires, and I am still in love with them. Great tire. Still quiet. To say they are as quiet as the day I bought them might be a stretch, but I don't notice any road noise at all from them. Couldn't be happier. I am guessing I can get at least another 15 out of these for sure.

If I buy another set before getting another car, it will be the Z's without thought.

Edit: Correction, over 3 years! Man, how time flies.
