You guys are silly. You want to stay with Lexus rims. What Lexus rims? Lexus or Toyota doesn't make rims. Lexus and Toyota use well known companies like Enkei to make the rims for them. So why not go to Enkei directly to get rims? It's prolly cheaper.

I think that 17s are too small for sure and also 18s look small. You need to get 19s or 20s. they are rims man. If you are going to spend your money do it right. And for the tires id think you need at least 235s in the front and 265s in the back.

Forget about performance and reliability if you do that. Who in the sane world would use them for street. Unless you drive like a grandma then go for it.

- 16s are great for all around driving.
- 17s are great for drag racing, allows you to put a fatter tire on.
- 18s are great for handling with low profile tires.
- 19s and 20s are very unrealistic and not very reliabile.

More than 95% of your driving is absorbed by the tire. Right after the tire is the wheel and then the shocks. What will happen if you lower the car, put 20ies on with aftermarket hard or soft shocks? It's either good bye to the tire, the fender, or the rim. Not to mention the shocks will be replaced more often.

Have you seen a SC with 19s or 20s? Way too big, looks like a badly lowered Civic.

When looking for new rims conside the following in that order: application for it (size), performance (weight), and finally looks.

Damn Bean, don't hold back at all

JohnnySC, Get what ever you think looks good. My opinion is 17" is just right , 18's are about the limit you can put an a SC w/o looking like a wannabe getto, stuck in a yuppie world or a queer drug dealer who is trying to compensate for something. 19's and 20's are just gaudy and don't even look like they fit! A wide set of 17's or 18's is perfect for performance and looks. Any larger and you run into safety issues with the suspension -

I personally don't like swapping factory rims from other cars; even the supra, so I would say go the aftermarket 18's. Burn thru the tires and slap on a nice set of wide tires on the back and proportationally smaller on the front (to keep same diameter)- gives it a good "raked" look. Same size all the way around looks feminine to me; unless you like driving a chick mobile. It also gives it the honda syndrome.

Just remember - do what YOU like, not what A-holes like us say.

hehe

I agree... I've seen one set of 19s that looked sweet... and that was because it was a polished 4" lip and some nice style spokes; and it was a 3 piece rim too...

but other than that, i've never seen a set of 19s or 20s that actually looked good... they are all ghetto style in my opinion

Keith13b is right, a set of 18x10 rims with a 4" lip, say like 5-zigen Copse (super expensive), that would just be badass... having 295/35ZR18 tires on the back too

if you're unsure about tire width, take a look at the back of Jeff's car (SC300TURBO), I think he's got 285s on the back of his ride... looks mean as hell

This is my car when I had Zennettis 18x8.5
with I believe 265-40-18s all around, I went
as big as possible ...and a 1.5" drop.....

this is a pic when I had on some Linea X rims from Japan..
I still have them, but use them for road trips and shows
sometimes. These where 10x10.5 in the rear and 18x9.5 in the fronts......265-35s in the front and 295-35-18s on the rear. Lowered 2" all around with the TEIN adjustable suspension. Only rubbed on the rear if I hit a big dip in the road
traveling fast.....hardly ever. I put the 17s on for more of a drag
racing look.

I bought the L-Tuned OZ Salina 18 inchers for the GS. 18x9.5 in the rear, 18x8.5 in the front, Michelin Pilot Sport tires included for $2300 bucks. I can't complain. However, for those nights when I need to look like Sexlexo69 I was thinking of getting some rims with the crown jewels embedded in them... 24 inchers with electrical tape for tires. Maybe some 6 inch wheel spacers too..

Gosh, you guys.

You don't know style until, you put your car on 12" Daytonas

~Laid Back with my mind on my money and my money on my mind~

Of course, I would be classified as Get-To!

Personally, I would 19" or 20"...I don't think 19" or 20" is ghetto...it's not the size, it's the wheel itself...for example Arelli Assassyns in any size are ghetto...

And how are 19" or 20" wheels not practical or reliable? I have 20's and I drive on them daily. Having a lowered SC on stock wheels is more impractical because of the long front overhang (but I'd still lower my SC!)

I would get nothing short of 18"...and do a 18"x9.5" or so in the back so you can get a wider tire...which automatically knocks our garbage brands like Zenetti...

These are some nice 18" wheels...Ganador Pasion...3 piece Forged...

Never said 19 or 20" were ghetto. I just think those small bicycle Daytonas are. To each his own.

Black SC - Hehhee, I wasn't reply to your post specifically...

I think the Daytons are ghetto too...but if I had a 60's Impala, I would do it on that car because it looks "right" on that car...but on a Lexus...bleah!

Here's what EVERY SC should aspire to...
