I would not go as high as 40 psi unless you are worry about deep potholes and even that you might just blow the tire if run over one.
I would try 34 front 36 rear or just 35 all around.

only problem with that is load carrying capacity...
certain tires, specifically those with low volumes of air (low profile) will need higher air pressures than standard...
any clue what the load index and weight carrying capacities are of the tires in question?
