Break is different from almost being obliterated
Thanks for sharing TX
Regarding that member saying to do an inspection. That would be hard to do, esp. this came from the inside.
I don't know how would one do an inspection?
The only inspection is to probably check the proper tire pressure.

Yeah that separation is crazy. I used to have a set of MOMO's on my old car 328i the tire blew out on the freeway at a fast rate. The only thing that happened to the rim was it had a dent on the innner lip and the whole tire shredded away. So goes to show what a quality rim will do.

So this is at least the second time a SEVAS rim came apart like this. For those that haven't followed the story in the 2IS forum, someone there with an IS had his SEVAS rims shatter and come apart from the barrel like this as well. We all know this can happen on the track, but this appears to just be two individuals driving their car on the street. There is no way this should happen.
Here is the 2IS link. What do you guys think? Looks painfully similar. I see a bad trend here.

my question for the bimmer guy is why in hell is there so much wheel weights on the wheel?
this kind of points of something being way off. usually tire balance issues don't need so much weight unless the wheel is bent or out of round. perhaps it was cast improperly and not round?
