Wheels & Tires for my garage queen!
I know this will come a shock to all...but my daily driver is my SC400 and my baby is my 87' Mustang GT Convt.
I know this is a Lexus forum, but I think you guys can understand the kind of look that I am looking for and have a incredible amount of expertise in the look I am going for.
Right now I am running classic 16" 5-star Pony wheels on 205/50s. I am going be putting on a 5-lug conversion kit that changes the bolt pattern from 4X4.25 to 5X4.5(5X114.3). Stock offsets should not be changing.
My problem is, I want to put a spin on a traditional look, but I am having a hard time deciding on the right tires.
On my SC I am running
19X8.5 + 38 with 235/35 front
19X9.5 +35 with 265/30 rear
(I am not positive of my offsets...I have had them for a while)
I am thinking about this setup for the Stang.
18X9 +24 (Maybe...235/40s,235/35s,just maybe 255/35s)
18X10 +24 (Maybe....265/35,275/35)

Discount Tire here in Austin told me they can't fit, but there are all kinds of guys running 17x9s +24 all the way around with 5-lug conversion kits. But they are running 245/40s...255/40s..245/45s...235/45s in the front and 275/40s and such in the rears. I have been told by some mustang guys that anything less than a 255 on a 9" wheel looks bad.
I would like to end up with a wheel and tire combo that looks like this on a fox-body mustang...

This is a pic from the American Muscle's web site, but does not include the wheel and tire sizes. Anyone think they might be able to help??
Thank you for reading my post, and I appreciate any help. I will be more than happy to share pics after this is complete.
Thanks again.

18x9 +24 (235 will ensure you fit, but a 245 will definitely work with a good roll and perhaps a little bit of additional camber)
18x10 +24 (A narrow 275 may likely work here, but a 265 Michelin PS2 or BFG KDW2 would be the bomb diggity)
There is a thread about these very wheels started already.

This is completely off base.

I was told that there was slight rubbing with 255/35s and 285/35s...
Pics looked ok but tire wells looked a little full...
You think you could help point me in the right direction on this thread?
Thank you.

Pic Update
Thanks for the help guys. This is what I went with...
Front 18X9 +24 on 245/35s
Rear 18X10 +24 on 265/35s
There is a little problem with the front dust caps, but I hope to resolve the problem this weekend.

LOL!! Thanks man!! I'm still not sure about the tires sizes. I got these off ebay to test clearance. The 265s give about 9/16s clearance of the tailpipes. I would like to try 275s but I afraid they would have issues.
