Help me choose new tires for So Cal
In the market for a set of new tires for my STi (guys on NASIOC aren't much help at all), can't decide between A/S or Summer. I live in So Cal but I'll probably be going up into the snow this year, maybe about 5-10 days out of the season? I'll probably buy a set of snow cables too, just in case. I'm a spirited driver but I won't be auto-Xing, just need tires for DD.
A/S:
Falken ZE-912 -$276
Kumho Ecsta ASX -$296
Yokohama W4S -$452
BF Goodrich RE-960 -$484
Summer:
Falken FK452 -$340
BF Goodrich g-Force Sport -$356
BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT -$488
I'm leaning towards the ze912, they seem to be a pretty good all around tire, I had the ze512's before and those were excellent IMO, and the ze912s are supposed to be a better successor.
But then again, the FK452 seem to perform very well in the wet.
FK452+chains=ok in R1 and R2 conditions?
The Kumho Ecsta ASX look pretty good too: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....sta+ASX#Survey
