Default Brakes for least Warp chance.

Heya..

I discussed this in the LS 400 forums.. and we came up with this for my 1994 LS 400.

The front rotors are slightly warped, and the pads have about 20% left.. so its time to do a job on it.

I intend on purchasing new front rotors (forgoing the turning of the rotors because I want a rotor that is very hard to warp).

As such -- It was recommended that I go with Brembo Blanks. About $60 a piece at the cheapest place we could find.

Ok so $120 for rotors, great.

Was told they would be the best to prevent warping.. (I'm not looking for performance here).

Now pads,.. I was told to go with OEM ceramic. So we found those at:

http://www.lexus-parts.com/parts_det...id=90191&all=Y

Front brake pads -- $69.95

These the best pads for least chance of warpage, or are there anything less 'rough' on rotors to purchase?

Also, this price about the best I'm gonna find?

Lastly this site mentions that you should get a shim and brake fit kit when doing brakes. That tacks on another $100 -- found here:

http://www.lexus-parts.com/parts_det...id=90258&all=Y

and

http://www.lexus-parts.com/parts_det...id=13514&all=Y

Is it necessary to spend $100 on a fit and shim kit for the front brakes? Or can I just reuse the parts from my existing front brakes and it should be ok?

Thanks,

no you do not need the fit or the skim kit. just use what you already have. thats what my lexus mechanic does. i havent seen him change the fit kit or the shim kit unless the car is under warranty and the parts are just sitting there. on my LS400 when i did my brakes we use the same stuff. just buy the pads and you will be set you just needa apply new paste onto the shims thats all

the only reason you would need a SHIM kit (not fit...) is if in the past a lazy/incompetent mechanic forgot to put them in.

Thanks.. Hopefully I'm not in for a surprise when I do the rotors/pads. I guess I can remove the wheel and take a good inspection before I order anything.. but it is nice and dirty in that caliper
