Default Tire Recommendation for 06 GS430

Hi, I need to replace the stock Yokohama's on my GS430. I have 27k miles on them and they are beyond gone. They have been noisy since day one and have only gotten worse. I live just outside of San Francisco so no need for any heavy winter tires. I use my car for day to day commuting so my main concern is a quiet and smooth ride. I would like the tires to still be someone decent performance wise but I have a 97 TT supra if I need to go have some fun. I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s. What would you guys recommend? Thanks!!

I just put on a set of 18" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my 06 GS300AWD.
I have only put on about 3000 miles but totally love them. I don't know if I will trust them to the New England winters though. They are very nice in heavy rain and superior on dry pavement. Wicked quiet.

The Michelins A/S came out in the middle of 15 tires in Consumer Reports.
Only fair in dry and wet braking. Falken Ziex ZE-912 came out on top followed by Nitto Neo Gen ZR. They called the Nitto a bargin.

I had the EXACT same problem. I have the 245/40/18 rims on my GS300 with the noisy Yoko's. I went for the Falken 912's. (Just put them on last week) They are amazingly quiet. All-Season...and only cost me $91 a tire, $40 shipping for all 4..and $65 to have them mounted and balanced at local shop. So for a total of $469 + tax...I feel like I have a new car. Finally the quiet/smooth Lexus I thought I was buying.

As for Falkens... I owned a 94 Gs300 for 7yrs and had a couple sets of Falkens on that car. They're a great tire.

The Pilot Sport A/S sounds like a better choice based on what you are looking for. Had you said you were looking for ultimate performance the PS2 would be best, but it sounds like you are willing to give up high end performace for ride quality and tread life so I would go with the A/S.

Brandon, I was just looking on your guys website and noticed there is a now a Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tire. Whats the difference between that and the normal A/S? Also how much performance would I really be giving up between the PS2's and the A/S's? Also as the A/S's that much quieter? Thanks for the help!

Slightly different tread pattern and longer tread life with a slightly harder compound. They are an improvement all the way around I have been using a proto-type version on my 9-2X for a couple months.
