Default Runflat or non runflat

I have a Lexus GS460 with the runflat package. I hate the factory runflats because the ride is too rough and also noisy. The car came with Bridgestone EL42 RFTs - I have driven 1400 miles on them.

I am choosing between Michelin PS2 or PS2 ZPs (their Runflat).

Any thoughts which way to go? Does anyone know if the PS2 ZPs ride as smooth as the regular ones or at least close to a non runflat tire?

Run Flats are going to run stiff and harsh regardless of the brand IMO. You will see a night and day difference in ride quality by switching to a non run flat. If you go this route, I wouldn't suggest the PS2 for your driving conditions. The heat and asphalt in FL will kill those tires in 10K miles easily. I would look into the new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.

I had PS2s on my BMW 330Ci and they ran very well in the South Florida Weather. Also got 20k miles and 4 years out of them. Have you heard that the PS2 RFTs are also very harsh, I heard they were softer than the Bridgestones.

All runflats are harsh, period. There may be slight differences from manufacturer to manufacturer, but remember, the sidewalls of the tire have to be stiff enough to support the entire weight of the car for 50 miles at 50 mph...

20K on the PS2 in FL. is amazing. You must take pretty good care of your tires. Does your 330 have the sport package?

The RE040 RF (imo) has a softer rubber compound when compared to the PS2 RF.
