18" and ride quality
#16
I'm actually in Kandahar, Afghanistan and decided to bring my GS over during my stay. That's the main reason why I'm not lowering it. I don't want to bottom out over the sand dunes.
I have 18X8 (245/40) fronts, and 18X9 (275/35) rears. There is some wheel gap, but the camera makes it look worse. I have thought about doing the L-Tuned suspension, but have some concerns.
Dex- When you say "LTuned suspension", do you mean springs and shocks? Any other elements to this? If I decided to go with this, what is the total installed price and how is the change in ride quality (more rattles, etc). Just thinking about it......

elcue824- I guess its a unique situation, because I'm very critical in differences with ride quality and the only change I might hear is when I go over certain tracks, like going through security gates over the rails/tracks. Then there might be a very mild "hollow" sound from the tires. Other than this, very minimal cabin noise difference, and barely noticed when driving on the highway 85-90mph with the stereo off. That is why I'm concerned with lowering, since I have heard the creaks and rattles within the cabin are increased and the bumps in the road are much more noticeable. Although its does "sway" a bit in corners when taken fast, I dont think I will take on too many of these to justify the modification and lose that "Cadillac smooth" ride for the cosmetics of the car.

ya because ur probably driving on smooth roads, drive a day in Detroit and you'll be begging to have ur 16's back, that is if u decided to stay LoLoL, people who live where there is alot of pot holes will notice a major difference between 16's and 18's
I have stock 17's on my car, if I was to move up to 18's would the difference in the ride be much different then 17's since im already running low profile tires?

Thanx for all your responses. Now I may do L-Tune first. Does anyone know the total cost for L-Tune suspension upgrade including labor. Does L-Tune make the ride significantly harsher.
Is the ride quality of (17s + L-Tune) setup ~= ride quality of (18s + stock) setup???
Thanks.

Avg install cost at a dealer is ~$400.
Maybe a few small noises while the new springs and shocks settle in, but I think mine were due to the time of year, winter. All quiet now.
Exellent, still very cumfy ride.

Install cost for me at the dealer was $440 including alignment. Some people have paid less, some more.
Diff between 17s and 18s is not significant.
