Question Rims

Hey Guys, I need your help, opinion and experience. I have a 2002 GS300 and I want to get rims and lower my car. First of all I cant decide if i should get 19's or 18's with a big lip. Second i dont know which suspension kit to get. I'm not a racer, and i dont drive my car hard. I just want the looks.

Okay right now my budget is $4500 for rims and suspension. If i decide to go with 18's staggered.. what size rims, tires and offset would you guys recomend. Along with 18's i want to lower my car. Which suspension kit should i get to rid of most of the fender gap. Again not for racing purpose.

Same question as above for 19's.

all your opinions will be appreciated.
thanks,
tommy

tommy it all depends on how low you want to go, with your budget, personally I would get the L-tuned suspension, its the cheapest and the most comfortable suspension of the bunch, it also drops the car about 1 1/4", as for rims you you have alot of choices, I would talk to manaray or any of the guys in the wheels forum. Oh yah and we also have a wheels dealer in the forum " wheel Kenetiks (spelling) " he will get you good deals on almost any good wheel, if you want to go all out I would suggest going with a nice 19" silver wheel with a polished lip in 19x8.5 up front and 19x10 in the back so you can have a nice staggerd look, and youll also have a bigger lip in the back than you would up front. Now if you want the chrome look Im pretty sure that people will tell you to go with polished instead of chrome since its cheaper and basicly looks the same, and its not impossible to fix

well I hope this answers your questions, and for refrence Ill attach a pic of my car with 18" wheels with L-tuned drop so you can have an idea of what it will look like

tommy,

how's going, being a while...you would need coils to eliminate most of the wheels gap....

bilsteins, ~$850, tein flex, ~$1300 would be the best choices..

are you still looking at some of the jdm wheels that we discussed?

I suggest Ltuned shocks/springs and a nice set of 19"s

I used to have 20's then dropped down to 18"s for comfort but for looks, 19's IMO, are good enough for just looks. Sure you won't be able to say you have dubz but 19's are IMO, good enough.

I'm on 18"'s cuz well, I'm sick of having to worry about my wheels all the time and I have pretty rare to find wheels so even if they're only 18"s I still get compliments left and right and my treadwear is great and I can smoke a GS with 20's not only on a straightaway but over potholes as well (heh heh) so that's my take on it.

shocks/springs ~$600 installed
then say 3K for anice 3 peice polished rims (no chrome IMO) for around ~$3000 for 18's and ~$3500 for 19's.

Hey Will.. how's it goin? Yes i'm still looking for rims.. I dont think i can afford the SSR 19's that we discussed before. Reason being because i had to pay penalty on tax this year and i dont have much money left. So i have decided to get 18's instead. One of my other question is what size 18's staggered should i get? I'm thinking 18x8.5 and 18x9.5. Is this combo good or i can go bigger? What combo tires is good?

I know the Ltuned suspension combo is good, but i think it wouldnt eliminate that much fender gap. Is it true or not?

thanks
tommy

hey tommy,

i see.....
L-tuned is quite mild, if your pref is to have no gap, you would need coils for sure...

18x8.5+9.5
245/40/18+275/35/18

or 18x8.5+10
245/40/18+275 or 285/35/18 tyres

on some wheels you can even go 18x9+10..
