Looking for experience in where you all get your wheel weights from.
What's good and what to stay away from...
Anyone ever had black wheel weights before? All my local shops have is silver and I'd like to get some you all recommend off the internet.

most wheel weights anymore are steel instead of lead because of environmental concerns...
with that in mind, paint sticks to steel pretty well, so why not just paint your own instead of having to go through the trouble of having your own wheel weights in stock...
I would hate to have to pay for weights that are normally included in the price of balancing (and no you won't get a discount if you bring your own) at roughly 75 cents an ounce for retail tape weights... although low profile performance wheels and tires generally balance without using too much weight, this can still get costly over time... especially if the balance changes a bit on a certain wheel, many times you are ripping all the old weight off to replace with new because it needed to be moved a few inches one way or the other...

The Tire Rack now uses black stick-on wheel weights for all black wheels at no additional charge. We just started about 6 months ago and I'm sure these will probably become more readily available on the open market soon. Sorry but we don't sell or black wheel weights separately.

There's a lot of these black powder coated wheel weights on eBay or just black spray paint.

What weight should I get? 1/4oz? 1/8 oz?
