Default SC400 17s fittment

hey fittment/offset experts:

for the SC400, 17x8 f+r or 17x8.5 f+r, which would be a better selection:

1) 17x8, +35 front, normal disk
17x8, +35 rear, normal

2)17x8.5, +28 f, normal
17x8.5, +28 r, normal
(would this one create problem?)

thank you much for your feedback and thoughts

GS4Will,

We are discussing the factory offset issue in the SC forum right now. I know several that say the factory wheel is a +50 17x8. If we go buy that number then the wheel mounts 50mm to the street side of the wheel. If you went with option (1) then you are pushing the wheel out away from the car 15mm. Should be fine.

Option (2) however would make the wheel center .25" more and pushing the wheel only an 1.15" out from that center leaving 4.25"+1.15"=5.4" inside of the wheel well. That is a full 1.4" farther inside than stock. This would hit the strut and may cause rubbing on lock to lock turns.

Nope... a 17x8.5 +28 is the same frontspacing as my 19x9 +35 (1mm different) and in the narrower 8.5" width (compared with my 9") is nowhere near the front upright.
I would use this option personally...

Some will argue about the change in scrub radius by using a lower numeric offset- I have never experienced any issues with this, however.

Both wheel set-ups will work- the 17x8 +35 sit 1/2" inboard of the [proposed] 17x8.5 +28 (the +28 sits flush with the front fender).
