-Altaf, this is FREAKY! I was about to post this SAME info. So it would seem for High Performance SEDANS, bigger is better. I am assuming to compensate for the additional weight, and no sedan can "feel" like a Porsche.

225 wheels are on the 19x8.5 Ruf turbo, so they'll fit. But judging by pics, it looks SLIM!!!! Watch out for curb rash

I have 245s on the stock 17" wheels that we put on my moms SC 400. They fit like a charm and give additional sidewall, not much though.

I think I will still go with 235s for the benefit of our members, to see if there is a difference. I will order from the TIre Rack Monday, should be in Wednesday. Yokohoma AVS ES 100.

Cool, I look forward to your write-up. I have a little different choice to make. I've bought a set of 18x9 rims for front/rear. I'm not sure if I should stagger the tire width even though the rim width is the same. I could put 245/40-18 all the way around or put 275/35-18 in the back. Not sure what to do...

I have the same problem!!

I've got Mich. Pilot sport 245/45/17 all around on stock rims. Feels better than stock Mich. tires that come with it and i feel better response over stock( just a little)

My problem is this : 19x9 rims all around.
what would be the best tire selection??? F/R?

I also have the 245/45/17 setup. The advantage here is it gives you a little better odometer mileage than the 235/45 setup. It is very slight, I think its like 150miles advantage for every 10k miles vs. the 235 size

Also, you will spin the tires less on the initial launch. The 245 also give you a little better rim protection in terms of pothole protection and scraping against a curbs. The protection is slight but does exist. 235's give you a better launch but if you car isnt lowered, the rims look small and if you are on 17'' than the gap is too large and doesnt fit the wheel well as nicely as the 245 do. You will eat up your tires a bit quicker too.

As far as steering, the 235's in the front might offer a slight edge but I never ran this setup. I am running a slight staggered setup with 245 all around but with HRE spacers 15mm on the rear wheels. Handeling is a bit more planted but almost feels the same as without them. Only noticeable during hard cornering. I got them mainly for looks so the rear wheels do not look as tucked in.

I messed up and ordered the 245s by accident, I may cancel the order but, looking at the M5/XJR/E55, 245s for the front seems the way to go....

Do ya'll want me to cancel the order? Let me know today. The other thing, I have Kumhos now, the tires I am ordering are Yokohomas, so results can be different more so than size.

I think I will stay with 245s.....I'll just buy a Porsche and give resutls with the 911

Default 245's !!

Stay with the 245's...I am facing this same question in the coming weeks. I originally had the chrome 16's on my gs 300 and changed to the stock 17's with 235's michelin pilot sports. I did the L-tuned suspension and ecu.

I'm very interested in your assessment of the 245's.

His results won't be relevant to you as he's running an 18"x8.5" wide rim on front and you have a 17"x8" one.

I'd go with 245 as well, based on the other performance sedans.
