Default Cooper Discoverer HTP @DT for GX?

I'm looking for a lower cost alternative than Michelin for my 2004 GX. I live in FL so rain is more of a concern than snow. Discount carries the above tire which is made specifically for them, and they are $80-$100 less each than the Michelins. I only drive about 10K a year and plan to keep it another 2-3 years.

Any experience or comments on these tires? Alternatives through Tire Rack as I have ordered through them before?

It is a decent mid level tire, I'm sure you would be reasonably happy with it, just keep in mind it wont be as quiet, may not last as long and will not have as good of wet traction as your premium level alternatives...

In Texas, through DT, there is a $72 difference between the Cooper and Michelin M/S2, but, either way at $125 for the Cooper, that is a pretty hard price to beat by anything...

Some other good somewhat inexpensive options would be the Fuzion SUV (cheapest at Tire Rack), Firestone Destination LE2 (#1 rated at Tire Rack), or Yokohama Geolander HT/S (highly rated, decent price at Tire Rack)

Thanks Mitsuguy. I actually emailed Cooper to ask them how the tire compared to their other mid-level tires and was told it is similar and they have had good response. Since they only make it for DT, their costs to distribute are lower and both they and DT have lower margins which keeps the price down.

The GX is pretty quiet anyway, and anything has to be an improvement over the Dunlop GrandTrek's I've been driving for 3.5 years. I did get about 34K out of them. I do tow a boat ocassionally which doesn't help. I have had Geolander's in the past too.
