Default How does this sound

So I go to the rim shop by my house to ask about some rims I tell him that I want 20x8.5 fr 20x10 rr he says no problem but this is the smae guy who sold me my enkeis last year anyway my enkeis was 20x8.5 all around but they used to rub in the front and the rear but now thanks to club CL I know a liitle more than last year so I ask the guy what are the off sets and his answer was

fronts 20x8.5 +38
rears 20x10 +35

now my questions are
Will this work? will my tires rub the fenders? and if not what are the correct offsets for a 20 inch wheel? any help is much appreciated thanks.

front is ok..BUT the rear is tooo aggressive...try to stay under +38..esp on 10s, i would say close to +45 would be better

If you're going to run a 275/30-20 on a 10" wide wheel, you can do a +40 and you should be fine. This offset is based on my own setup at 20x9.5" with a 275/30-20.

When you go up to 10", moving the offset back to +43 will give you the exact same frontspacing as my setup. However, you can move outward 3mm because when you put a 275/30-20 (techincally, an "undersized" tire for a 10" wide wheel...but it's just bearly undersized), the tire "narrows" about 2.54mm...as it is, with my setup, I have a few mm to go before the tire hits the fender...so even with a 10" +40 with a 275 should work just fine with just enough clearance...no mods need to be done...

Now remember, not all tire brands/models are the same width...for example, a S-03 and SP 9000 are not the same width even though they both are 245/35-20's...9.0" vs. 8.8"...however, don't worry too much, the tires I have (Nittos) are on the larger end of the scale so any other tire should be a little narrower...

Hey Will, maybe we should combine your article with my wheel manifesto...
