That's probably why the redesigned dB s2 are here. Because the original dB's were supposed to be quiet but weren't.

So those had 15k on them when I got them?? Wow, I'm impressed with the wear. I've put almost 20k miles on them since last year. BTW, how you liking your HREs??? They look sharp!!

Merry Christmas

exactly what happen 2 me... the so-3 r great but since i had the car so low up front they wore out a bit and i had 2 get them flipped and raised the car 2 even camber now, but overall its a very good tire just most anytire will ware depending on how low u will have the car...

Question

Are we talking about specific 'summer rubber' here (I know snow isn't a consideration) or do you prefer a longer mileage all season performance tire?

The Goodyear Regatta and Bridgestone Potenza RE040 are quietest tires I've seen but they may not be enough of a sport tire for you....they are not designed for aggressive cornering.

The Goodyear Regatta's are not rated very high in bad weather conditions either.

My favorite is Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S. It's an all season tire that's got good performance, wear, and most of all quiet.

I've had:
Yoko AVS dB
Yoko AVS dB S2
Kuhmo Ecsta ASX
Pirelli P Zero Nero M+S

I run staggered 18" on my GS4, so size can be an issue with certain brands/models. The Pirellis is the first tire that I will buy again.

Do a google search and read the reviews on the Falken Azenis ST-115. I had a set on my TL for about a year, so cannot comment on the tread wear issue, but I can confirm they are very quiet as well as a good summer tire.

I already started another thread about this, but the toyo t1-s is the loudest tire I have ever run. I have run nitto nt555, goodyear eagle hp, pirelli pzero rosso, falken 451, and now toyo t1s. The pirelli pzero rossos were the best all around and most quiet, but also cost the most. These toyos are dissapointing!

Let's see, I've been through Yoko AVS db S1 and S2, P Zero Nero M&S, Dunlop 9000, and Goodyear F1 GS D3. They all start out quiet and they all started really howling in the usual 15 to 20K. My experience was that the AVS db S1 was quieter than the S2 and less prone to cupping but maybe that was just me although the tire dealer said they have more complaints on the S2 than they did with the S1. The Dunlop's were the only ones that developed rapid and non even wear and had to be replaced before they got too noisy but I won't go back to them. This is on both a GS3 and a GS430. My wife's car has Michelin's and I will probably go back although I won't be getting an ultra performance tire. I don't need the handling as much as I am annoyed by the howl. Any notion that Lexus are quiet don't apply to the GS with 10 or 15K on the tires. About the only vehicle I have access to that is louder is an Econoline. Please, if anyone has had a good experience, don't bother posting if you have less than 10K miles on your tires, with over 20K miles on the tires, let us all know. The TireRack customer reviews are useless for this as people only post when the tires are less than six months old. All of them are great in that time frame.

Definitely agree with that quote. I got suckered in buying that Avon tech 245/45/17 in my old rims for great bang for the bux. But they were horrible in terms of flat spot. They looked flat every time they are sitting for 6-8 hours. Hard to balance and not as quiet as expected.

I need a new set on my 18's. So confused still. Don't care about performance just the noise and road comfort. *sigh* Search continues...
