Default GS430 17" Sport Rims

My dad bought a GS430 last year and his only problem with the car is he hates the road noise it car makes. He thinks if he had 16" rims it wouldn't make so much noise. So he asked me to see if I could find some rims for him. But I have no idea about Lexus and not sure where to start.

What he would like to do is trade his 17” Sport rims with someone local who has 16” Stock Rims. Or if someone is selling 16” rims I could give him a price.

We live in SoCal.

TimeFor,
welcome to CL. You may want to post something in the Market Place, or ask one of the Wheel Moderators/Super Moderators move this there for you. Here is a set of 16's I have for sale, I think trade would be kind of expensive to ship wheels cross country. BTW it's the second set that are the 16's.

Could it be that he is running on the stock OEM tires? Those are notorious for making noises and they don't last very long (about 20k miles). Instead of spending money on new tires and rims, may be he could get different tires?

Default Ready to swap 16's for 17's

I live in W. Los Angeles and would be interested in speaking to you about a swap . I have on my GS300 excellent silver 16" 5 spoke wheels, circa 1999-2000 , with new Bridgestone tires.

After upgrading from stock 16'' wheel/tire combo to 17'' SSRs with wider Bridgestone Potenzas, I can vouch that the noise is significantly higher. However, I would think that the noise is largely caused by the tires, rather than the rims. This is subjective, but I am pretty sure this is right. To illustrate my point, most new cars now come with 17'' standard and with 18 and 19'' options. Most customers of jaguars and 7 series and the like would not tolerate incredible noise those wheels would produce if noise level was determined by the wheel size alone. Check out the tire reviews on Tire Rack and you will get some idea about what to expect (some tires are noisier than others).

I have the stock SportDesign Graffite 16" rims with tires.. I will trade if you want.. The rims and tires have about maybe 1000 miles on them if that..

If not then do what Vlad said.. The noise isn't from the rims it's from the tires.. Just change em and you'll see...
