285's or 275's - advantages and disadvantages??
I've already ordered my wheels probably going to be here within 2-3 weeks from now. Now you're probably wondering what kind of wheels they are. I'd like to keep it a secret but I'll give you a few hints - 3 piece forged, 3" lip in the rear and six-spoke. Anyhow now that my wheels are on the way I've been giving alot of consideration on which tires to run. Now my question is - on a 10" rim (rear) which tire size would be better suited for looks, a 285 that's flush with the rim or a 275 that's a bit stretched out? Oh and also are there any disadvantages or advantages in the handling category for either size?? Before I forget and I'm sure it's bound to come up, yes, I will be rolling the fenders!! Thanks in advance.

285's just weight more...I don't think they give you enough a traction difference to matter....275 fits on a 10" wheel just fine. 285 does fit "better" with a more vertical "straightness" but IMO, 275's look just fine on a 10" wheel...and I don't like that "JDM/European" stretched look either...
Also, the S-03's are heavy tires...Toyo T1-S is a good pick for tires if you can find them at a good price (they tend to be alittle pricey)

I personally think the 275 SO3s on my 9.5" look a little stretched already. If I had a higher offset, I'd put 285 on my 9.5".
The 245s are more square on the 8.5" in front.

Toyo T1-S...
You see the only problem I have with going with a 245 up front and a 275 in the rear is that there's no lip that protects the rim. That's the only reason why I'd rather go with a 255 and a 285... Believe it or not that little lip saved my butt before, and prevented some curb rash..

I'm running 285s on 10" wide rim with Eibach springs and have had zero problems with rubbing. If you run 275s, you won't have any curb rash protection. I have barely any protection with the 285s. Bridgestone S03s tires are soo heavy in 285 size!
