Looks like Daddy-O may have a new mod!

I'm looking for 255/55/18 for my 2002 RX 300 FWD. The rims I'm looking at are 18x7.

This car only goes offroad gravel driveways and to jump the occasional curb.
I rarely see any snow and if there's any accumulation, I stay home.

Primarily I need what many people want for their RX:

•Quiet on highway, city and county roads.
•Wet weather handling
•Enough performance for some mountain twisties (better than the S rated Notegrity's)

On tirerack.com, the tires rated closest to what I seek are:
Kumho Ecsta STX
Michelin Pilot LTX

Any other suggestions for your mod-happy Moderator?

Go with the Michelin Pilot LTX. I've tried everything under the sun and always end up going with Michelins.

But I'm sure someone will say the same about Kumho.

See how you like the Pirelli Scorpion Zero. Relatively expensive, but most Pirelli's is a quality brand. They are made in the size you are looking for, and have superior dry traction cornering ability and steering response (according to tirerack.com). Plus, they have a cool looking tread pattern

These tires are actually made in the Rome, GA plant where I worked for a couple weeks this summer. Amazing new tire process (MIRS) you can read about at pirelli.com.

Too bad they don't make the Scorpion's in 16's.

I am running 18 X 8 zeneti wheels with the tire size you want,(255/55/180) or should I say the only one that fits. They are on Pirelli Scorpion tires. Very nice ride.
Alittle noise, cause of the aggressive tread. But that is because I had planned on getting to the snow to for snowboarding this year, but guess what. Not enough snow.
Anyway, I like them, the ride is just same, and an improvement in handling especially on California's on/off ramp clover layden freeways.
As a matter of fact, I dusted a Ford...expedition that tried to hold me in the corner, but I out corned him cause I could accelerate through the clover and he couldn't.
It isn't the first time and with the idiots that are out there driving today it is nice to have a slight advantage even if is suppose to be an SUV.

I'm not sure you'll be happy with how a 255 looks on the 18x7- this is terribly narrow for this tire!
Depending on which tire you choose, you'll want to be sure this wheel width is within the tire manufacturer's recommended wheel widths.

Also, be very careful with offset on this truck- In my experience the +40 and higher offset wheels cause the rear wheels to interfere with the shock/strut tube. We typically run 18x8 at +35.

I purchased the V-rated Michelin Energy MXV4+ S8 235/55-18's.
Schweet! Smooth, quiet and tracks straight.
