22's?

22's?
My brother in-law recently bought a 99' GS400, and wants to put 22's on it. He has a friend willing to sell him a set of 22 inch Lorenzo's with 265/30/22 rubber for $3,000 which he says is a steal for what they are. Has anyone tried 22's, and will they possibly fit without any serious mods? I'm ready to tell him he's a dumb a** for even thinking it. I told him not to waste his money and buy a nice set of 3 piece 19's or 20's.
Thanks
Josh

that setup is plain retarded i can say. 20s are the biggest you can ever hope for the gs. a while ago there was a pic of gs with 21s and it looked so horrible already. 22s are for suv type cars imho. 745i is the only sedan so far i think can MAYBE get 22 (21s are the largest i have seen and it's huge already). nothing else, not even s class.
big rims is good, but there is a limit

Thanks for the comments. He's a DA, and a wannabe thug. His last ride before he got a job with my father was a 95' isuzu rodeo suv, that he paid $2200 for. He later tubbed the fenders out on it and put a set of 23" Davin Black spinners on it that set him back about $6000 after tires. It looked horrible. You can tell how his priorities are in life. He was the talk of the town until he sold it a few months ago and bought the GS.

GS 4 can come with 17" wheels, so 20" is the max.
745 has 20" from the factory, 23" is the max.

Yeah, he is done. The 22s are so tall they will not fit under the suspension. To do this, he would need to flare the fenders about two inches and offset the wheels so they sit outboard of the suspension uprights. Then you are talking custom-built 22" wheels and a minimum of repainting the front fenders and rear quarter panels.
Or he might be able to install the 22" wheels without the tires mounted (might be a bit noisy, and I think the ride would be a bit harsh... but it might make pretty sparks!)
Honestly, 20s look killer on these cars!
.
There are exceptions to this rule... but this isn't one of them!

Whatever their highest factory size is, you can go +3.

22s on a GS? A BIG Tell him not to be stupid and just put some 20s on it and lower it. That will look so much better than those impalas that are jacked up on 24s There is a guy that lives by me that has a 745 with some 22s. The 22s are pretty nice. They look like the Auto Couture Magnifiques. They are even polished, not chrome. It is also lowered (dont know with what or how much) and I think it looks really good. I will try to take a pic of it.
