Looking for new rims for my SC430, considering this & a few others,. This one is not expensive, just want opinions on quality of this brand, anybody have experiences with them?

The first set of wheels I bought for my SC was Milli Miglias. It lasted only 4 months before two of them got bent on a pothole going 30 MPH. Seems like they were very prone to bending.

Replaced with SSR's and haven't had a problem for the next two years after that.

OZ is a great wheel. Have Opera II's on my SC430 and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Smooth ride and improved handling. Lighter weight than the OEM rims.

I like the OZ wheels, but was told today that only the OZ Superleggera III will work with the tire sensors but it cost CAD$1,000 plus per wheel, more than I want to spend.

So I think I'll go with the BBS RX which should work with the tire sensors:

Yes, I had my mechanic disconnect the tire sensors when he put on the OZ Operas. I didn't think I really needed them anymore since I ditched the runflats. Also, I can now use Fix-a-flat (and have) without worrying about damaging the sensors.

Re: the BBS wheels... I've always had an affinity for that particular wheel. Very nice. Similar to the HRE's posted elsewhere in the forum.

in my opinion, if you have the money for a 430 you should be able to afford some rims that give it a nice look. All the wheels you have posted look cheap, except the bbs. I didn't say are cheap, they just look cheap. Think long and hard about your decision. Rims either make or break a car!! Look at the sc430 gallery and see what others have done. Don't settle for 2nd best when it comes to upgrading a Lexus.

yes....I agree to an extent...sure its your car, but it NEEDS lips. If upgrading, do it right...this is THE Lexus SC430. Cheap looking wheels will kill it IMHO. Check the classifieds, ceboyd is selling a nice set of staggered SSR's. The gallery has nice wheels as well. But a cream of the crop car like yours needs cream of the crop wheels.

If going with BBS, check out the LM's or the CH. They look really nice

I just ordered some HRE 540Rs for my SC 430. You might look at a forged wheel rather than a cast wheel. They are stronger and more durable with the low profile tires on our car. Look at iforged.com. They have some nice wheels that are essentially HRE copies and are more affordable. I would have gone that route in a second, but my insurance company is footing the bill, so I think I'll go with the HREs. You don't have to worry if the wheel you choose isn't compatible with run flat sensors in the valve stem. Keep your sensors and on many wheels that don't have the right valve stem hole, you can "band" the sensors to the middle of the wheel and use a regular valve stem. That's what I'm doing with my HRE 540Rs. I thought iforged had some great looking wheels and they are forged. After just bending all four of my L-sportline cast wheels on a 2.5 inch bump at 45m.p.h. , I'm not buying any more cast wheels. Good luck on your decision.

Thank you all for your opinions on helping me decide on new wheels for my SC. This is the first car I've owned that I deem worth spending extra on new wheels,and boy, one can spend a fortune on them.

There are a few owners in the SC430 forum that seem interested or content with the wheel conversion kit available, which is certainly the most economical way to improve the car's look,but personally I don't care for them, and I don't think $750 (?) for 4 pieces of plastic is that good of a deal anyway, thus I decide to go for new wheels.

I have finally decided on the BBS CH and ordered them today. I guess there are always better, more expensive wheels I can get, but as far as I am concern, wheels good enough for the Ferrarri 360 Challenge should be good enough for my SC430, as least for now.

Just had the BBS CH mounted today, with Michelin Pilot Sports A/S replacing the runflats as well.

Significant improvement in appearance IMO. Should take pics with new wheels but car is not too clean -past Summer had been very dry here in Vancouver & we're in water restriction - possible fine even for washing car with hose but will try to take pics with clean car & post as soon as possible.
